On yesterday October 18, 2015 the non profit women’s community organization The Black Girls Next Door held it’s third annual “Wear It Pink “Day Fundraiser. The organization was founded by me in 2011 and in 2013 we started to have “Wear It Pink” fundraisers for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Here’s how it works you pick a day during October that you and a group of friends would like to come together and wear pink for the cause. It’s like a party with a purpose. You can do it at your work office, workout class, school, or anywhere. Each attendee wears pink, each attendee donates to the Wear It Pink organization, and you have breast cancer conversation. The company will send you a fundraising packet to give you tips on how to collect donations.
This year we chose to have a ” Wear It Pink Brunch”. We had a total of eight ladies attend brunch at Carnivale restaurant in Chicago, Il. Each woman was given information on mammograms, when to schedule appointments, and some myths about breast cancer. We had an awesome time for the cause. I encourage you to visit http://www.wearitpink.org and plan your wear it pink day.
